Mike Castain

Mike Castain is in his first year as Head Athletic Trainer at Menlo College. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training as well as a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Psychology; both from California State University, Hayward.

Before coming to Menlo, Mike worked as a Strength and Conditioning coach at the Riekes Center in Menlo Park. He was also the Assistant Athletic Trainer at CSU, Hayward during the 1997-98 school year. Prior to that, he was a Minor League Athletic Trainer for the Oakland A's as well as the Atlanta Braves. Mike was the Head Athletic Trainer of the Modesto A's in 1997 and the Danville Braves in 1996.

While an Undergraduate at Cal State Hayward, Mike was a recipient of the 1995 National Football League - Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society Ethnic Minority Scholarship and served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the New Orleans Saints during the 1995 Training Camp. Earlier that year, he was also selected as a Spring Training Intern for the Atlanta Braves. Mike was also a recipient of the Joe Morgan (Major League Hall of Fame) Scholarship through the Department of Kinesiology at Cal State Hayward.

Mike is a Certified Athletic Trainer as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He is also a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Mike, his wife Ida, and twin daughters; Micaela and Morgan reside in San Leandro.
